网站历史库(www.54zz.com):People who have an optimistic view on life are more likely to live longer, a US study said Wednesday. The study, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, analyzed data from 2004 to 2012 from 70,000 women enrolled in the Nurses' Health Study, a long-running US study tracking women's health via surveys every two years. The researchers looked at participants' levels of optimism and other factors that might play a role in how optimism may affect mortality risk, such as race, high blood pressure, d&#;iet, and physical activity. It found the most optimistic women, or the top quartile, had a nearly 30 percent lower risk of dying from any of the diseases analyzed in the study compared with the least optimistic women, or the bottom quartile. The most optimistic women had a 16 percent lower risk of dying from cancer; 38 percent lower risk of dying from heart disease; 39 percent lower risk of dying from stroke; 38 percent lower risk of dying from respiratory disease; and 52 percent lower risk of dying from infection. Previous studies have linked optimism with reduced risk of early death from cardiovascular problems, but this was the first to find a link between optimism and reduced risk from other major causes. "While most medical and public health efforts today focus on reducing risk factors for diseases, evidence has been mounting that enhancing psychological resilience may also make a difference," said Eric Kim, research fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and co-lead author of the study. "Our new findings suggest that we should make efforts to boost optimism, which has been shown to be associated with healthier behaviors and healthier ways of coping with life challenges." The study also found that healthy behaviors only partially explain the link between optimism and reduced mortality risk. One other possibility is that higher optimism directly impacts our biological systems, Kim said. Co-lead author and postdoctoral research fellow Kaitlin Hagan said optimism can be altered with relatively uncomplicated and low-cost interventions, even things as simple as having people write down and think about the best possible outcomes for various areas of their lives, such as car&#;eers or friendships. "Encouraging use of these interventions could be an innovative way to enhance health in the future," Hagan said.

There I was making my much-awaited visit to one of the most famous burger joints in the city, and waiting for my highly anticipated burger and my favorite drink. My eyes traced every plate that came out of the kitchen, making my mouth water repeatedly. After 20 long minutes of starvation, my food reached my table and the light in my eyes dimmed. That was it, and this was the drink? The tinniest burger I had ever seen came out, accompanied with the smallest portion of fries and a drink that I finished in two swigs. Tasty as it was, it left me wanting more, but I was not hungry anymore. My two minutes of meaty heaven reminded me why I found eating out such a task.First there is the tease. There are hundreds, if not more, restaurants in any city waiting for us to visit and taste their delicious food, but as they have waited for their customers, they like to return the favor. Therefore, you wait for the confirmation of your reservation, and you wait outside their doors in long queues breathing in the aroma of their delicious food that escapes the cozy space every time the door opens. Maybe it's their way of building up one's appetite. Once you manage to be seated, you wait for the waiter, given their job title the customer might assume that it is they who should be waiting on them, but it is usually the other way around. We wave our hands, try to catch the eye of the in-demand waiters and shout over the loud music. After you have succeeded in placing the order, you wait some more for the delicious food that made your mouth water by simply looking at its photo in the menu. If you are lucky, you will not have to wait too long in between the courses and your drinks will arrive shortly before the food, but usually one ends up waiting for what seems like a million years between courses and your drink will either arrive too early or too late, leaving you with nothing to drink with your food. If you are with friends, which is mostly the case, you are obliged to wait until everyone has their food. By the time everyone's food arrives, yours has gone cold and you have filled yourself with drinks in an attempt to kill the hunger. Even though you are out to relax and have a good time while enjoying some good food, one has to follow certain rules. Don't chew too loud, elbows off the table, use your napkin, &#;eat slowly and worst of all, say "please help yourself" when someone asks if they can taste your linguini, as if the serving was not small enough. One has to shower and dress properly. Some restaurants won't even admit a customer in chinos or without an evening jacket. Can't burp, can't fart, can't take off your shoes and put your feet up on the table &#;and can't loosen your belt to make space for dessert. Then you have to pay for this tormenting experience? At this point, doesn't a take-out or a home delivered meal in front of your television in your pajamas sound much more heavenly? It sure does to me.This article was published on the Global Times Metropolitan section Two Cents page, a space for reader submissions, including opinion, humor and satire. The coach of Romanian champions FC Astra, Marius Sumudica, has decided not to take charge of Gaziantepspor, despite agreeing to terms with the Turkish club, after seeing foota&#;ge of the Istanbul bombing on Saturday. Two bombs exploded less than a minute apart, killing 29 people and wounding 166 outside a soccer stadium, in a coordinated attack on police shortly after a domestic league match between Besiktas and Bursaspor.Sumudica was due to fly to Turkey late on Saturday to sign his contract but changed his mind after seeing news coverage of the bombings.News&#;paper headline: Turkish team rejectedThe newly nominated Italian Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, was expected to announce the team of his cabinet later on Monday, according to media reports. Gentiloni, 62, was named as new prime minister by Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Sunday, and asked to form a transitional government, following the resignation of Matteo Renzi from the A few changes in the list of ministers would be expected, compared to the outgoing Renzi's center-left government, since Gentiloni can rely on the same majority in parliament. All opposition forces have been unavailable to take part in the new executive, and some of them were pressing hard to go to i&#;mmediate elections. Gentiloni has been holding talks with all parliamentary groups since Sunday evening, soon after receiving the mandate. According to his official schedule, he would conclude his consultation in early afternoon with the representatives of the center-left Democratic Party, the largest force in parliament to which both Gentiloni and Renzi belong. Opposition Five Star Movement (M5S) and Northern League have both refused to hold consultation with him. Gentiloni was then to go back to the Quirinale presidential palace later in the afternoon, Ansa news agency reported. He will report to the Italian President about his efforts, and is expected to hand in the list of the ministers. Once managed this passage, the new government would be sworn in, and it would then have to ask for a confidence vote in both the senate and the lower house. All this could happen between Tuesday an&#;d Wednesday, according to major media analysts. If such plan will be timely fulfilled, Gentiloni would be able to represent Italy at the table of the next European Union (EU) Council scheduled for Dec. 15, which was a strong wish expressed by Mattarella.。

Apple's major iPhone assembler Foxconn, which employs hundreds &#;of thousands of workers in China, said on Wednesday that it is in talks to invest in the US."We are in preliminary discussions regarding a potential investment that would represent an expansion of our current US operations," the company said in a statement sent to the Global Times. The final investment plans have not been settled. The comment came after overseas media outlets found Foxconn's name on a document carried by Japan's Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son in a meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday in the US. The document said: "Invest $50bn + $7bn in US, generate 50k + 50k new jobs in the US in next 4 years."Trump posted on social media that Softbank will invest $50 billion in the US and create 50,000 new jobs. The post aroused speculation that Foxconn would invest $7 billion in the US, though the company refused to give details. Trump told the New York Times in late November that he had told Apple CEO Tim Cook that he plans to "get" the tech company to make its products in the US. But the chances of moving iPhone production to the US is "limited" because the country lacks the basic infrastructure to support it, and such migration is estimated to add $80 to the average cost of producing an iPhone, Wang Yanhui, secretary-general of the Mobile China Alliance, told the Global Times on Wednesday.A commentary published in the Global Times' business opinion section in late November said that China would benefit from Trump's effort to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US. It is impossible for the US to restore its glory as a major manufacturing mammoth under Trump's presidency, said the commentary. US companies' moving back would raise their costs "dramatically," which can opens the door &#;for Chinese smartphone makers such as Huawei Technologies Co and Xiaomi Inc to undercut Apple on the global battleground.Foxconn built a 28 billion yuan ($4 billion) factory in Central China's Henan Province in November 2015 to produce display panels for the iPhone, according to media reports.

Howe&#;ver, the draft, which was published to solicit public opinions on November 29, was taken down later following significant opposition.Promoting ethnic unity does not mean treating minorities differently as this will only divide ethnic groups, said Sina Weibo user "Jifeng," claiming that policies promoting ethnic integration are preferable. Offering special services to minorities is a waste of tax revenue, said "zhongnanyanfei" on Weibo, adding that the availability of services and restaurants should be determined by the market instead of the government. Some netizens further argued that if minorities have special dietary needs, they can simply avoid eating those foods, rather than wasting the country's resources to especially meet their needs.Gansu has 55 ethnic minorities with a total population of 2.41 million, accounting for 9.43 &#;percent of the overall population in the province, according to the 2010 national census. A total of 14 minority groups have a population of more than 1,000 people, including ethnic Hui people and Tibetans. There are two autonomous prefectures and seven such counties in Gansu. The draft also said that if it was passed, universities supervised by the Gansu provincial government would have to enroll a certain proportion of minority students; and governments above county level should take minority groups' custom into consideration, for example setting up specific services to meet their needs at airports, bus stations and schools.。
